Malle Mabelane named Supply Chain Professional of the Year by IMM Institute

IMM Institute hosts annual Excellence Awards in Johannesburg, honouring top supply chain professionals, teams and emerging talent.
South Africa’s top achievers in the supply chain sector were honoured at the annual IMM Institute Excellence Awards held in Johannesburg on Friday night (8 May 2026).
The institute, a founder member of the African Marketing Confederation, is a community for marketing and supply chain professionals, as well as corporate companies.
For 2026, the Supply Chain Professional of the Year award went to Malle Mabelane, Supply Chain Demand Manager at energy and chemical company Sasol. She holds a BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management and an MBA.

At Sasol, she leads procurement across Legal and IP – driving efficiency, governance and performance. Recognised for her excellence and innovation, she is also a winner at the Pan African Supply Chain Awards, receiving the award for Best Private and Public Sector Project.
The other finalists in this category were Pieter Roux, an experienced supply chain professional and EMEA Planning Improvement Leader at manufacturing company 3M, and Jonathan Mphake, National Fleet Manager at cash management and logistics company SBV Services, where he drives efficiency, safety and sustainability.
Corporate Supply Chain Team of the Year went to the National Transmission Company of South Africa (NTCSA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Eskom Holdings established in July 2024 to own and operate the national electricity transmission grid. Committed to innovation and efficiency, NTSA delivers system operator services and supports a dynamic energy market.
The Supply Chain Lifetime Achievement Award for 2026 was awarded to Professor Douglas Boateng. A globally respected transformational leader, social entrepreneur and Africa’s first Professor Extraordinaire in Supply Chain Management.
With over three decades of C-suite and board-level experience across five continents, he is renowned for shaping boardroom governance, industrialisation strategy and executive leadership in both public and private sectors.

The winners of two other supply chain award categories were also announced at the glittering ceremony held at The Venue in Melrose Arch:
Supply Chain Student of the Year: Kay Whitehead.
Emerging Supply Chain Practitioner of the Year: Jarett Lynch.
