The Zambia Institute of Marketing, a founder member of the African Marketing Confederation, is enjoying an extremely busy period as it hosts major events for local and international marketers.
Not only is the institute gearing up to host the 2026 AMC Conference in Livingstone in late September, it also recently hosted its two-day Sales & Customer Service Conference 2026 at Sandy’s Creation Resort in Lusaka.
This event attracted a range of delegates, speakers and panellists to enjoy in-depth conversations around sales, customer service and service excellence.
Customer service not merely a support function
The central theme was ‘Beyond the Transaction: Advancing Zambia’s Economy Through Service Excellence’, a significant positioning that frames customer service not simply as a support function, but as something that contributes directly to business performance and, more broadly, economic development.
Among the speakers was Anne Mwale Kaluba, Country President of Ipsos Zambia. Her presentation focused on consumer expectations, the relationship between macro trends and consumers’ everyday lives, and empathy as a strategic component of customer experience.
Another featured speaker was George Damson, President of the Institute of Marketing in Malawi and Managing Director of Blitz Interactive Agency. Damson has many years of experience across sub-Saharan African markets, with particular expertise in marketing strategy, integrated campaigns and business growth.
The gathering came to a grand finale with a Gala & Awards Night. It was an evening dedicated to celebrating excellence, recognising outstanding achievement, and honouring the individuals and organisations raising the bar in sales and customer service.
‘Marketing in an Era of Uncertainty’ theme for graduation event
Then, on 28 August 2026, ZIM hosted the 12th graduation ceremony of the Zambia Institute of Marketing. This year’s ceremony was anchored under the empowering theme ‘Marketing in an Era of Uncertainty: Innovation, Resilience and Sustainable Growth’.
“Huge congratulations to the Class of 2026! Your hard work, resilience, and dedication have paid off, and we cannot wait to see the impact you will make in your respective fields. The future is officially yours to shape,” ZIM says in a social media post.
