Broadcaster SABC appoints a new Head of Integrated Marketing

Ongeziwe ‘Oz’ Lupuwana joins SA’s national broadcaster, bringing extensive experience gained with Pernod Ricard and SABMiller.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has appointed Ongeziwe ‘Oz’ Lupuwana as its new Head of Integrated Marketing.  

 

An experienced marketing leader with over a decade of experience across Africa and Europe, he brings global expertise in brand strategy, innovation and market activation.

In a press release, the SABC says: “With a people-first approach and a passion for shaping compelling narratives, Oz leads the SABC’s integrated marketing into a bold new era.”  

 

Lupuwana joins the SABC from international wines and spirits company Pernod Ricard, where he was Global Marketing Manager for rum brand Havana Club International and led campaigns across 15-plus countries.  

 

His career encompasses key roles in the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa.  

 

In all, Lupuwana spent more than a decade with Pernod Ricard, serving in positions such as Brand Manager, Regional Brand and Trade Marketing Manager, and National Brand Activation Specialist. He also spent time at South African Breweries and Red Bull South Africa. 

 

On his LinkedIn profile he describes himself as an “experienced award-winning global marketing manager that fuses strategic marketing with comprehensive commercial development”.  

 

He adds: “The expertise honed through experiences has empowered me to drive business and brand development across diverse markets. My tenure at SABMiller and Pernod Ricard has been marked by a commitment to brand building, resulting in the successful delivery of campaigns that have lasting brand and business impact.” 

 

Lupuwana holds an LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Wits Business School, and is completing his MBA at Warwick Business School, based in Coventry, England.

He previously served as a lecturer of e-Government and Information Security at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda and Radbond University in Netherlands.

    Dr Kin did his postgraduate courses in Strategic Business Management, Strategic Leadership Communication and Strategies for Leading Successful Change Initiatives at Harvard University, Boston USA.

    • Chairman of Board of Directors of Soliton Telmec Uganda, the leading telecom company in Optic fibre business managing over 80% of optic fibre in Uganda.
