Global agency network Dentsu X has announced the appointment of Marcel Swain as Managing Director for South Africa. The agency says it is a strategic move to drive its expansion across the continent.
With over 20 years of experience in global marketing and innovation, Swain brings with him extensive expertise in brand transformation, product innovation and strategic growth. He was previously Head of Marketing: Premium at Heineken in South Africa, and has also held marketing and business development roles with Heineken in the Netherlands.

The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Dentsu X, following its expansion into South Africa. The agency positions itself as an integrated agency network combining communication and media planning services, content creation, technology, data and behavioural insights.

Swain holds a Bachelor of Technology in Public Relations/Image Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He has also completed management courses with Instead and the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
Dentsu was founded in 1901 in Japan and is now present in over 145 countries and regions. Its global client base includes Jaguar Land Rover, LVMH and Netflix.

He previously served as a lecturer of e-Government and Information Security at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda and Radbond University in Netherlands.
Dr Kin did his postgraduate courses in Strategic Business Management, Strategic Leadership Communication and Strategies for Leading Successful Change Initiatives at Harvard University, Boston USA.
