He has been a stalwart of the AMC since its founding in 2013 and joins a distinguished list of other Honorary Life Members: Mr Gillian Rusike (Marketers Association of Zimbabwe), Dr Godfrey Dube (Marketers Association of Zimbabwe) and Dr Matonga Matamwandi (Zambia Institute of Marketing).

CIMG was the host of the 2025 African Marketing Confederation Conference, held in Accra from 20-22 August. Its sister body, the Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana (IIPGH), hosted the Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) Conference, which ran concurrently with the marketing conference.

Recognition of support given to the AMC

Announcing the awarding of Honorary Life Membership to Mr Agyekum during the conference’s closing ceremony, AMC President and co-founder, Helen McIntee-Carlisle, said it recognised his “services and support to the AMC over many, many years”.

“You are a lifetime member and we hope to see you at every conference and at every awards ceremony,” she said, to tumultuous applause from the assembled delegates.

In his role as CEO and Registrar of CIMG, Mr Agyekum is responsible for driving the institute’s emphasis on enhancing professional marketing qualifications, training, research and advocacy in Ghana – a key set of responsibilities set out in the CIMG Act 2020 (Act 1021). This mandates the CIMG to set standards for the practice of marketing, as well as regulate the marketing profession in the country.

Mr Agyekum is also Vice President, West Africa for the African Marketing Confederation.
