Memorial fellowship launched by Ghana’s marketing and ad community

D.A. Twum Jnr Fellowship promotes mentorship, hands-on learning and creative industry exposure for next generation of creative leaders.

Ghana’s marketing community is today (9 April 2026) launching a memorial fellowship in the name of Daniel Twum Jnr, a well-known advertising and marketing industry leader who passed away on this day 20 years ago.

Mr Twum Junior founded a family business called Unicorn Inc and was co-founder and chief executive of local advertising agency Origin8 Saatchi & Saatchi.

The D.A. Twum Jnr Fellowship will promote mentorship, hands-on learning, and creative industry exposure for Ghana’s up-and-coming creative leaders.

The invitation-only launch event at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra includes a panel of prominent Ghanaian leaders exploring the topic ‘Uncovering the Next Generation of Ghana’s Creative Leaders’.

Launch of a memorial book

Today’s gathering also sees the launch of a memorial book (pictured) to commemorate the occasion. Titled Rules of the Marketing Communications Executive, it is co-authored by Joel E. Nettey and Robert E. Hinson, both of whom are prominent members of Ghana’s advertising and marketing community.

It discusses the ever-evolving role of the marketing communications leader, based on the dynamics of internal and external environments.

The authors ask the question: ‘What does it really take to lead campaigns that work?’ then answer it through 150 practical and field-tested rules drawn from their joint experience at the highest levels of global and African marketing communications.

It is not an academic textbook. Rather, it is a professional field guide for the executive who wants to move beyond execution into genuine campaign leadership – for the strategist, the creative, the account manager and the student serious about influencing what people think, feel and do.
