Publicis Groupe Africa, which represents the French multinational advertising holding company Publicis Groupe across the continent, has been appointed as the new creative and production partner for Vodacom SA.
The account moves from Ogilvy South Africa, which has been the incumbent agency since August 2024. Prior to that, the account was with VML South Africa.
According to a media statement, the appointment “marks a significant step in Vodacom’s continued marketing evolution, bringing creativity, data, technology and production together in a single integrated operating model”.
The statement adds that the new partnership will support Vodacom’s evolution from a traditional telecommunications provider to a broader technology company, helping drive brand growth while enabling greater agility, personalisation and operational efficiency across its marketing ecosystem.
A future-ready marketing model
Andisa Ntsubane, Managing Executive of Brand, Marketing and Communications at Vodacom, comments: “Our ambition is to build a future-ready marketing model that enables us to connect more meaningfully with customers, move at greater speed and unlock new growth opportunities.
“Publicis presented a fully integrated approach that supports these business objectives, and we are excited to begin this next chapter together.”
Says Koo Govender, CEO of Publicis Groupe Africa: “This appointment reflects a shared belief that world-class creativity, powered by data, technology and connected ways of working, can create meaningful business impact.
“We look forward to building a connected marketing model that supports Vodacom’s bold ambitions for its brand, customers and business.”
In December 2025, the parent company of Vodacom, Vodafone Group, announced that it and five of its European companies would be moving to Publicis.
At the time, a joint statement said the six entities would “initially start working with the new agency”, suggesting that other Vodafone businesses could follow suit.
