Serengeti Breweries appoints new Marketing and Innovations Director

Henry Esiaba joins SBL team, fresh from holding a senior North American marketing role with Godrej Consumer Products. 

Serengeti Breweries Limited, a leading beer and spirits company in Tanzania, has announced the appointment of Henry Esiaba as its new Marketing and Innovations Director.  

 

 With a career spanning over 14 years in marketing and commercial functions across globally recognised brands in West Africa, Central Africa, the United States and Canada, he brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries, Serengeti Breweries is a major player in the Tanzanian market. In 2010, it became part of the giant East African Breweries Ltd (EABL). 

 

 Its beer brands include Serengeti Premium Lager, Serengeti Lite, Pilsner Lager, Guinness Smooth and Guinness Extra. The company is also home to global spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker Whisky, Smirnoff Vodka, Gordon’s Gin and Captain Morgan Rum. 

 

 Began his career at GlaxoSmithKline 

 

 Esiaba began his career at GlaxoSmithKline and later transitioned to Nestle in 2012, where he held various roles in sales, channel development, brand management, innovation, and consumer insight. 

 

 “His leadership in developing and executing award-winning brand extensions and innovative consumer-connection projects for renowned brands like Maggi, Nescafe and Milo has been widely recognised,” Serengeti Breweries Limited says in a media statement. 

 

 “With a global perspective gained from working with Airtel Telecommunications, Diageo, and Godrej … his proven ability to drive sales, route-to-market strategies, consumer engagement and insight, and trade marketing excellence has significantly contributed to business objectives across different regions.” 

 

On his LinkedIn profile, Esiaba describes himself as a strategist, a creative and an innovator – with a love for film. As part of his interest in the latter, he completed a Film and TV Industry Essentials Certificate with the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
