Taazima Kala from Botswana has been elected Chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations International Committee for 2025.
Kala is General Manager and Chief Consultant of Hotwire, an Africa-focused PR consultancy based in Gaborone, and has been a Chartered Member of the CIPR since 2020. She was previously Committee Secretary.
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations is based in the UK, but welcomes members from around the world.
CIPR International continues to expand globally
“As one of the largest sectoral groups within CIPR, with over 1,000 members as of 2023, CIPR International continues to expand globally, adding invaluable diversity, passion, and expertise to our community,” Kala explains.
She adds: “It is a great privilege to be elected as Chair of the CIPR International Committee for 2025. My heartfelt congratulations go to our newly elected officers and committee members, and my sincere gratitude to our outgoing Chair, Samantha Seewoosurrun, for her outstanding leadership over the past three years.
“We remain dedicated to supporting our members by fostering cultural understanding, building international connections, and promoting knowledge sharing through initiatives like webinars.
Notably, the recent introduction of a monthly card payment option for overseas members – a key milestone championed by Samantha – makes CIPR membership more accessible than ever. I look forward to an impactful year ahead as we continue to grow and support our global network.”
The new International Committee leadership for 2025 comprises PR professionals from Africa, India and the Middle East.
On her LinkedIn profile, Kala describes herself as a “passionate public relations professional fascinated by the power of the written and spoken word and their ability to shape relationships and build societies”.
She has been a contributor to Strategic Marketing for Africa, the magazine of the African Marketing Confederation.
