Expansion into the Democratic Republic of Congo adds to Adopt Parfum’s presence in multiple Francophone African markets.

French fragrance retailer Adopt Parfums has entered the Democratic Republic of Congo, opening its first outlet in the country at Kinshasa Mall. This extends its African footprint to seven markets.

The store, opened in partnership with Naex Trading and Consulting, is located on the mall’s third floor and offers customers a choice of more than 100 fragrances.

Expansion into the DRC adds to Adopt Parfum’s African presence, which encompasses branded stores in Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Mauritius, Morocco and Seychelles, as well as product sales in Tunisia through local stockists and online platforms.

The franchise partnership brings Adopt Parfums into a market where international beauty retailers have been establishing a stronger product. Other brands operating in the DRC include Italian cosmetics retailer Kiko Milano, French skincare company Yves Rocher and French perfumery chain Beauty Success.

Naex Trading and Consulting was founded by Najla Kahil, who previously oversaw Middle East and Africa operations for French children’s clothing brand Okaïdi.

Adopt Parfums arrival highlights the role of franchise partnerships in bringing international consumer brands into African markets.

It also reflects the growing competition among international beauty brands for a presence in the DRC’s modern retail sector, particularly Kinshasa, the country’s main commercial centre.
