Energising Africa’s tourism marketing efforts high on the agenda as AMC and national tourism marketing bodies plan UN Tourism collaboration.
Marketers across the African continent are eagerly counting down to one of the most anticipated events on the continental marketing calendar – the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) and Technology Information Confederation Africa (TICON Africa) annual conference – slated to take place from 20–22 August 2025 at the serene Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

With pre-registration now officially open, excitement is steadily building for a conference that promises to shape the future of marketing and technology on the continent.
As part of the ongoing preparations, AMC President, Helen McIntee-Carlisle, recently visited Accra to lend her support to the local organising efforts. During her visit, she was presented with a copy of the newly published book on Hospitality and Tourism Marketing, authored by Professor Robert Ebo Hinson and a team of esteemed African scholars.
Expressing her appreciation, McIntee-Carlisle described the book as “a timely and insightful contribution to Africa’s marketing literature, particularly in the hospitality and tourism space”.
She further revealed that after collaborating with UN Tourism on their Brand Africa initiative, the AMC realised the need for a focused destination marketing initiative and will be launching the AMC Tourism Chapter at the conference. Both the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Zambia Tourism Agency have already accepted invitations to support this launch and more are expected.
“This new book by Professor Hinson and colleagues aligns perfectly with our upcoming initiative,” she remarked. “It’s not just a book – it’s a bold statement about Africa’s readiness to elevate its hospitality and tourism sectors through strategic branding and marketing.”
McIntee-Carlisle also used the opportunity to extend a special invitation to policy makers, business executives, marketers and technology practitioners across Ghana and the broader African continent to attend the 2025 AMC-TICON Conference.
“The August 2025 conference will deliver practical, future-focused strategies to help African professionals navigate and gain a competitive advantage in the continent’s rapidly evolving business ecosystem,” she emphasised.
With high-level participation expected from global and African marketing leaders, tech innovators, policymakers and development partners, AMC-TICON 2025 is poised to be a landmark event for Africa’s marketing future.
