Experienced marketing and communications executive, Themba Gwejela, assumes role at the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced the appointment of Themba Gwejela as its new Group Executive for Corporate Affairs and Marketing.
He is an experienced marketing and communications executive, with over 18 years of experience in leading roles across local and international brands. His expertise incudes brand management, corporate communications and integrated marketing.

Gwejela has held senior leadership positions at financial services companies such as Momentum, FNB, Old Mutual, Discovery and Liberty. He also led his own agency with automotive brand clients including General Motors Sub-Saharan Africa, Opel, Isuzu and Chevrolet.
Enhanced customer communications and experience
“Most recently, he served as the Head of Communications at Eskom Pension and Provident Fund (EPPF), where he made a significant impact by building a robust brand communications team and enhancing customer communications and experience,” the SABC says in a press release.
“His leadership was pivotal in the development and launch of EPPF’s new corporate identity and a comprehensive brand-positioning strategy.
“Mr Gwejela’s career is marked by his ability to deliver strategic initiatives that drive brand growth and strengthen corporate communication.”
Prior to his position at the EPPF, he was at the SABC in 2021-22 as Group Head Of Marketing. He also worked at Discovery Vitality, the health and behaviour-change platform, where he was Brand Communications Consultant.
Gwejela holds a BA Honours degree in Brand Leadership from the Vega School of Brand Communications and a BA in Media, Communication and Culture from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela University).
