Anne Joy Michira to become Marketing and Innovations Director for new business unit covering South, West and Central Africa.
Diageo, the UK-based multinational drinks company, has announced the appointment of Anne Joy Michira to the position of Marketing and Innovations Director for South, West and Central Africa.
Michira, a Kenyan, was formerly Marketing and Innovations Director for East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) in Nairobi.
She assumes her new position on 1 April and will be based in London as part of the newly formed South, West and Central Africa (SWC) business unit.
The business unit comprises two regions covering Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean, and West and Central Africa. This includes operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, South Africa and Seychelles.
When she takes up her new appointment, Michira will report to John Musunga, who was previously Managing Director of Kenya Breweries. He moved to London in January 2024 to head up the SWC business unit.

Diageo has controlling stake in EABL
Kenya Breweries is part of EABL. EABL is, in turn, part of Diageo, which has a controlling stake in the company.
In a media statement, Musunga describes Michira as an experienced business executive with a strong track record of delivering tangible value to the business.
“She developed and executed Kenya’s spirits portfolio strategy that has grown value share, with Kenya recording the fastest growth of Johnnie Walker globally in the last financial year,” he says.
Michira joined EABL from British American Tobacco (BAT) in September 2015 as the Marketing Manager for Mainstream Spirits.
She rose through the ranks to Head of Spirits and then Head of Marketing, Beer for East Africa before the appointment to her current EABL role in May 2022.
Diageo has over 200 brands and operates in around 180 countries. Among its high-profile brands are Johnnie Walker whisky, Guinness beer and Tanqueray gin.
