Former marketing director for Tiger Brands aims to harness the power of storytelling to connect with local and international travellers.
South African Tourism has announced the appointment of Thembisile Sehloho as its new Chief Marketing Officer.
She joins from FMCG giant, Tiger Brands, where she served as the Marketing Director and played a pivotal role in shaping and redefining some of the country’s best-known household brands.

Sehloho also worked for AVI, another prominent South African FMCG company, where she was involved with the Bakers biscuits and Willards snacks brands. In addition, she has been with Unilever in a financial role.
“Thembisile brings over two decades of experience in strategic brand and marketing to her new role, further strengthening the organisation’s marketing capabilities,” SA Tourism says in a media statement.
Track record of driving market share
“With a proven track record of driving market share and growth through innovative brand strategies, Thembisile’s expertise will be instrumental in elevating [our] marketing initiatives.”
Her academic background includes an MBA in Leadership and Innovation from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and a BCom in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg. Additionally, she has completed certificates in Strategy Development from the University of the Witwatersrand, and Advance Commercial Acumen from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
“It is an honour to be entrusted with the role of marketing our beautiful country,” says Sehloho.
“As I embark on this new journey, I am excited to be able to use marketing to harness the power of storytelling, allowing us to connect with local travellers, encouraging them to explore their country, as well as invite travellers from our key source markets and beyond.”
