Up-and-coming young marketer, Rukevwe Toka, brings high-level experience with some of the world’s top brands to his new role.
Payment platform Visa has appointed Lagos-based Rukevwe Toka to the position of Marketing Manager for West Africa.
Recognised as an up-and-coming young marketer, he has received various accolades – including being named among the 35 ‘Under-35 Marketing & Communications Professionals’ by Nigerian publication ‘Brand Communicator’, and named among Nigeria’s ‘Top Ten Marketing Managers of 2023’ by the magazine ‘Marketing Edge’.

In his new role at Visa, Toka will be responsible for managing multiple marketing programmes, ensuring maximum traction with clients, developing and executing client marketing initiatives, and planning marketing activities that align with the key priorities of the Visa brand.
Prior to his appointment at Visa, he was with multinational food and drink company Nestlé, where he held the position of Marketing and Category Leader, Culinary for the Maggi brand.
Key roles with major brands
Toka has also held senior roles with The Coca-Cola Company, at multinational fast-moving consumer goods giant Unilever, and at Heineken.
At Coca-Cola his job titles included Senior Brand Manager and Senior Shopper Insights Manager, Africa. At Unilever, his roles included serving as the Brand and Digital Manager, where he led the execution of brand strategies during the pandemic to exceed financial targets.
“I am obsessively focused on creating value and building breakthrough brands! I employ the best practices and principles of marketing to maximise business growth,” Toka says on his LinkedIn profile.
“I have been fortunate to spend the last 11 years working across technology, consumer goods, education and media industries in roles of increasing responsibilities, where I garnered several notable achievements and acquired strong marketing, strategy, execution, commercial and people leadership skills while managing some of the world’s most iconic brands.”
Toka holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Benin, and a Master of Business Administration in Business/Commerce from the UK-based University of South Wales. He has also studied at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
