Marracuene is a town located 30km north of Maputo on the Incomati River. The opening is the result of a strategic partnership with fuel and lubricants distribution company, Camel Oil.
“With this new collaboration involving 12 stations in the Maputo province, Vivo Energy Mozambique will expand its network to a total of 58 operational stations nationwide, strengthening its presence in the Mozambican market,” Vivo says in a press release.
According to João Oliveira e Sousa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mozambique, the company’s partnership with Camel Oil goes beyond simply expanding Vivo’s network.
Commitment to be closer to customers
“It is part of our commitment to be ever closer to our customers, offering excellent services, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the communities where we operate.
“The new Engen N1station not only supplies fuel, but also has a car wash, an oil change centre and a convenience store fully equipped to meet our customers’ daily needs. It contributes to boosting local trade and strengthening the region’s economy.”
Oliveira e Sousa added that, of the 12 filling stations involved in this partnership, five are already in operation, three are under construction or in refurbishment until the end of 2024, and the remaining four should be operational in early 2025.
Since its entry on the Mozambican market in March 2019, following the acquisition of Engen, Vivo Energy Mozambique has seen significant growth. It has expanding from 19 stations in 2019 to 58 today, with a presence in all provinces of the country.
The Vivo Energy Group operates under the Engen and Shell brands in 28 markets across Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. Its retail offering includes fuels, lubricants, card services, convenience stores, restaurants, and other non-fuel services.
