Uganda Marketers Society and Uganda Advertising Association are to be joint custodians of the 2023 Silverback Awards.
The Uganda Marketers Society (UMS) and Uganda Advertising Association (UAA) have announced that they are joining forces to promote and enhance the #SilverbackAwards2023. Their aim is to improve the local marketing and advertising industry.
Signing of the partnership, announced on Thursday (16 March) means the UMS, the umbrella body for Ugandan marketers and a member of the African Marketing Confederation, and the UAA will jointly recognise and award exceptional work created and produced within the industry.

The inaugural Silverback Awards were held last year and created a stir within the industry. Says UAA Chairman, Frank Muthusi: “We made our statement last year and our agencies received this competition with excited and open arms.”
He added: “The hope is that, with this, we will build our muscle in the quality of work we produce and create for our clients, and the market overall.”
Importance of healthy industry competition
Speaking about the partnership, Sandra Arinaitwe the UMS Vice President, recognised the importance and need for healthy competition within the industry.
“It is vital for the industry to celebrate, recognise and reward star performance. As UMS we are excited to join hands with UAA to celebrate our marketers,” she said.
Advertising agencies and marketing practitioners are encouraged to work towards creating work to be submitted for this year’s Silverback Awards.
Details on the theme and categories of the #SilverbackAwards2023 will be announced in August. Training on how to make award-winning submissions will be held in September to equip this year’s contenders.
